Friendly, Neighborly, Bono

Bono is located on the west side of Crowley’s Ridge in the Northwestern portion of Craighead County. The city is approximately nine miles Northwest of Jonesboro, Arkansas, seventy-eight miles Northwest of Memphis, Tennessee, and 128 miles Northeast of Little Rock, Arkansas. Bono stays connected to the rest of the state by U.S. Highway 63, which is one of the main commercial corridors through Northeast Arkansas. There are two water storage towers with a combined capacity of 250,000 gallons. We were awarded the prestigious honor of having the best tasting water in the state by the Arkansas Rural Water Association. We have new, natural gas generators at both stations to insure that we won’t be without water, even in power outages.

Bono has it’s own Police Department, under the direction of Chief Michael Parrish, with 4 full time officers, including a canine officer, Tango the Police dog. There is also a good group of Auxiliary officers to help insure safety and welfare. The city houses it’s own Volunteer Fire Department, who do a wonderful job of protecting the City from fire dangers. Chief Trent Edwards is currently in charge of the department.

The population is listed as 2,131, as of the last census. There are 5 churches in the City and more than a dozen businesses and stores which call Bono their home. We are also the home of Jimco Lamp Company and Inboden Brothers Seed and Fertilizer Company. There are new homes and apartments being built to accommodate the need for affordable residences for those who come to make Bono their home. There is a good mix of new citizen’s and those who are long time residents. If you are looking for a place to make your home, Bono has a small, friendly community atmosphere where you can feel like family in no time. Come check us out, Bono may be just the Home you are looking for.
